We are Tim,
Bernadette and Daniel Samelson. Tim and I both grew up in large families.
We know the joy of having siblings to rely on and to share a bond deeper
than any friendship for a life time. So after seven years, our clan decided
to add Nicholas (Nguyen Van Thang) to the family tree. We wanted an older
child, someone closer in age to Daniel so that the children would be able to
relate to one another. Since there are four different cultures and
ethnicities, (including Vietnamese) in our extended family, we thought a
child from Viet Nam would fit right in.
After a year
and a half of fingerprints and paperwork, Nicholas came home in May 2007
from Tam Binh Orphanage. Nicholas was four years old when I brought him
home from Viet Nam. He had been abandoned at nine months old and had been
at the same orphanage for the past three plus years.
Our journey
has been a happy one with an extremely successful transition for all members
of our family. We would love to give you pointers, recommendations to make
your journey as happy and successful as ours, or simply just chat about your
experiences with adoption. We can be reached at
