1.) Send in your application to CHI. 2.) CHI approves the application
and sends the Adoption Guide, CIS-I600A and we will assign someone
in our office or Branch office, your personal guide to help you
through the process. This person will be experienced and
knowledgeable in regard to all the Vietnamese requirements and will
be able to answer your questions and address your concerns. 3.)

Contact a Social Worker connected with a
licensed agency in your state. CHI can either assist or advise
you.
1. Preparation: Write an autobiography. The
agency you choose may or may not require this.
2. The following copies may be needed
during the Home Study process:
a. Photocopies of Birth
Certificates for each family member
b.
Photocopy of Marriage
Certificate
c. Photocopy of letter from
local police stating "no criminal record"
d.
Photocopy of
Financial Statement
e.
Photocopy of medical
from your doctor on his/her letterhead stating positive condition
of
physical/mental health
f.
Reference letters
All of
the above may be required from the agency to do your home study. |

2. CIS - Citizenship and
Immigration Service |
Because
you are adopting from abroad, you need to get their approval for a
Visa for the child.
1.
Fill out the I-600-A only.
2.
Send photocopy of Birth
Certificates, or proof of citizenship.
3.
Send photocopy of divorce
decree if applicable.
4.
Send photocopy of marriage
certificate.
5.
Favorably recommended
Home
Study.
6.
$670.00 plus $80 per person

. HOME STUDY |

All of
the documents below must be originals.
10 hours of
Hague approved Adoption Education is required for ALL CHI
families. In order to help you comply with these requirements,
we will send you the following:
1. A DVD set entitled
"Because They Waited" by Heart of the Matter Seminars. Included
with the DVD set, there will be an online test (one for each
parent). The results will be sent to CHI. This set will give you
10 hours of Hague approved education.
2. “Adopting Parenting
Creating a Toolbox, Building Connections”. Children’s Hope
International is happy to present this book as an excellent
resource for adoptive parents but may not agree with all
articles included or all views expressed.
