Fuqua Family, TN (
Russia)

Ian adopted March 2004 and Lena Grace adopted November 2006
Ian and Lena Grace are the typical 4 and 2 years olds, into
everything, arguing as siblings, bringing giggles and
laughter to our home. They have been gifts of joy and gifts
of growth to us in so many ways that we have much to be
thankful for. We can’t imagine starting our family any other
way than through adoption! Our son has a thoughtful,
intuitive and sweet personality, our daughter a determined,
affectionate and confident one. Both journeys could not
have been more different from each other and yet we know
each journey happened just as it should have to bring us to
our children. Throughout both, we felt confident and
especially comforted, by the support and efforts of
Children's Hope International…they were amazing to work with
and we have such gratitude towards them.

Anna is
doing great. I'm amazed at the progress she has
made in such a short time. She now plays with
her stuffed animals and dolls, bosses our dogs
around and gives hugs to Daddy. She loves being
with her older brothers and sister. Thankfully,
they feel the same about her (at least for now). We
are very thankful to CHI who was wonderful during
the long wait and especially during our trip to
China.

Miller Family, UT,
Formerly TN (Russia)
Aaron is doing great. He is learning so many
new words such as dirty, stairs, Mickey, and
vacuum cleaner. He loves the vacuum cleaner
and dust buster!! He has also learned to
turn summersaults. He just started
practicing in his crib one night until he
got it. I'm not sure where he learned to do
this! Now, whenever he does one he says
YEAH!! and awaits applause! Everyone who
sees him comments that he is so happy.
Someone even commented last week that she
could not imagine him anywhere else, but
part of our family.
It is hard to believe we have been home
with Aaron almost a year now. He is so
amazing, and we can't imagine our family
without him. We
certainly have much to be thankful for
as we celebrate Aaron's first!
Thanks to Children's Hope International
for making Aaron part of our family!

Our
family is simply wonderful... We have so much to be
thankful for! Miss Lily is so enjoying 1st grade, has
won the hearts of many of her classmates and teachers,
and continues to be such a great big and little sister
in our clan :) She's one of a kind, that girl.

Here's a picture of our boys Tim, Alexei,
and Mahrk (and me) that we're sending over
to Todd in Iraq. We're very proud of Todd,
but miss him dearly.
Todd recently deployed to Iraq with the 3rd
Armored Cavalry Regiment for a 15 month
rotation. |

Hornsby Family, TN

For Halloween, Anna Li was the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" because
she makes her brothers sing that song to her (complete with
hand motions) endlessly. She was WAY into the trick or
treat thing - she would go up to a house with her Dad and tell
the people at the door "tink you" in a tiny voice - take her
piece of candy, eat a bite and hand it to her daddy who then
ate the rest of the candy.

Gray Family, TX,

There is a picture of Colton getting candy
and at the door waiting for candy. He had a
really good time it was GREAT....

Immigration
|
We received this information below regarding
possible changes to Immigration next year:
If
you are planning to adopt within the next year,
please consider filing with CIS NOW! The US
government fully expects the Hague to go into
effect on April 1, 2008. As of that date all
Intercountry Adoption (ICA) between the U.S. and
other Hague nations will be governed by the
Hague Convention. Among other things, new Hague
compliant procedures will alter the way the
Citizenship and Immigration Services issues
visas for children adopted into and out of the
U.S. As these are new procedures, there will
inevitably be delays for PAPs, even if all goes
according to plan. However, any PAP who has
filed an I-600 or I-600A will be grandfathered
for U.S. purposes under the old system.
Therefore we urge anyone contemplating ICA from
a Hague country, notably China, to file his or
her forms with CIS as soon as possible. |

Message from Brenda Barker...

Merry Christmas! And what will
2008 bring??? I hope that it brings you much joy, happiness, and
the gift of family!!
As many of you may have heard, my
husband Ken and I received our referral of our daughters who are waiting
for us in Ethiopia the day before Thanksgiving! What a wonderful
gift at this Christmas season, which reminds us of the greatest gift of
all who came as a tiny baby!
And of course, we are always here to help you in your adoption journey.
Let us know how we can assist you!!
Hope you have a blessed season!
