After what seemed to be the most agonizing wait of my life, my mom and I left for Kazakhstan last July. We came back to Louisiana a little less than a week after Hurricane Katrina. When so many people's lives were being torn apart, mine was really just beginning. Since we've been home, Celeste has grown and adjusted so wonderfully! She is now 17 months and she's walking, climbing, talking, giggling, dancing, singing, and all the other cute stuff that 17 month olds do! Every morning, when I creep into her bedroom, before I wake her up, I think to myself, "I am the luckiest person in the whole world to have the privilege of knowing and loving this little person." Every day feels like Christmas morning to me. My life is complete! Thanks CHI.

THE BUUCK FAMILY, LA

Alex is doing so great. He has had no trouble adjusting and is just the happiest guy. He is such a joy to be around and is soaking up everything. He is beginning to speak in sentences and "puppy dog" and "cookie" are his favorite words. I was worried at first because he seemed to eat everything in sight, but just like I was told by the Almaty staff, his eating has definitely slowed down. Now it is hard to get him to eat an entire meal and he is beginning to slim down again.

When we were in Almaty, he was deathly afraid of bath time, but the boy loves the water now. He is always in his little turtle pool and we even brought him to the beach one weekend. He loved it. He is so fearless and would just walk out into the water. He requires constant watching because he will do anything that he thinks looks fun.

Thank you again for bringing this wonderful child into my life. He exudes a light and brightens up everyone who is around him.
