Julie Eagelson from the CHI office in Portland spent over one week in Guatemala in September. Alicia Schnell of the St. Louis office returned home after being in Guatemala Sept. 9-19th. The purpose was to meet our contacts, work on streamlining the process with our current attorneys, open relations with new attorneys, establish contacts with new orphanages, and interview potential candidates, who would work as the CHI representative to expedite the process and assist adoptive families when they travel to Guatemala. This was done, in addition to gathering information on the Hague Convention which Guatemala has just published as a law.

We had seven families complete their adoptions in September, have 2 families here who should complete in the next couple of weeks, and have a few more who will likely travel down before the 19th. Alicia wrote while still in Guatemala, “Its a busy program and the children are absolutely precious.”
