Julie
Eagleson grew up on a farm in rural Oregon. She graduated from Linfield College
with degrees in both Spanish and Psychology. She spent her junior year in Spain,
and immediately found a job in a local adoption agency. She worked there for 12
years, building a Latin American program that placed children from Colombia,
Guatemala, Ecuador, Brazil, and several other Latin American countries. During
those years, she felt privileged to assist in the adoption of more than 350
children, many of them older, special needs, or members of sibling groups. She
has two adopted nieces from Latin America. She met many wonderful people in
Latin America and has a tremendous respect for the people and the culture of
that region.
She left adoption for several years to pursue other
interests, but accepted a position at the Portland Office of Children’s Hope in
March of 1996, where she worked part time until June of 2001. Now she works full
time and is busy developing the Colombia program and also coordinates some
Guatemalan adoptions for local families.
When not working at the office, Julie enjoys gardening,
computers, history, archeology, travel and music. Most of all, she loves the
Lord and is delighted to be able to serve him in the field of adoption once
again.
