China Quota Lifted for 2003
|
On Nov. 29th, 2002, the China Center for Adoption Affairs released the news that the quota system for China adoptions will no longer continue for 2003 adoptions. Two days later, the CHI office received the official notice from CCAA. This is a wonderful news for families considering adopting from China. The quota system was implemented by CCAA for the year 2002 only in an effort to limit the number of application families while they finish the adoptions of the many waiting families whose paperwork had been in China before 2002. For the year 2002, CHI help families adopted 290 children from China. The currently waiting time is 13 month. The CCAA is still imposing a limit of 8% on the total number of single parent adoptions for 2003. CHI is limiting single parent adoptions to previous CHI single families. We welcome more families to apply to adopt in China in 2003.
