We have put
together a year schedule for Parent Education meetings and feel
that each topic has vital information to making your adoption
successful. These FREE seminars are important for waiting
families as well as families that have completed their adoption.
The meetings provide information but they also help families
build a wonderful network of support with other families in the
same process. Childcare is provided and free during the

“Post Adoption Blues,” CHI Staff
Unfortunately for adoptive parents, there’s no way to escape the
potential effects of depression after having a child. Post
partum depression is not just limited to mothers who have
birthed children. Post adoption blues can be a very real issue
with some adoptive parents, but it is not often talked about or
well known. Join the CHI staff as we talk about what post
adoption blues is, some of the causes of this disorder, and ways
to help overcome this very real issue.

“Talking about Adoption Positively Through Books,” Speaker TBA
If social workers could convey just one message to adoptive
families, it would be how to talk about adoption with their
child and others. However, for you parents to be able to talk
about adoption, you must be educated about how to do it. Even in
this technological world we live in, books are still the best
way to learn. We look forward to sharing how you can use books
to educate yourself about adoption and how to talk about
adoption with your child and others.

the experience goes from the other side of adoption. This will
help you to place yourself in your child's shoes so that you can
see adoption through their eyes.
