Families now have 3 options for accommodations during their
adoption trip in Addis Ababa: a hotel room, a guest house or
a guest room at the Children's Hope, House of Hope. Children's
Hope will
set up your transportation and accommodations for the House
of Hope. You will need to make your own arrangements if you
choose to stay in one of the local hotels or guest houses or
if you plan to stay in Ethiopia for more than 7 days. When
you fill in your travel form, please indicate where you want
to stay. The House of Hope can accommodate 2 families at a
time; rooms subject to
availability.
Children's Hope
House of Hope:
Guest rooms (suites) are located in a section of the House
of Hope. One suite has a living room, bedroom and bathroom,
and the other a bedroom with a bathroom just steps away, and
an additional adjacent bedroom for an extra traveling
companion that you might bring with you. Each room can
accommodate an infants crib to be wheeled in. The House of
Hope is not the Hilton, but we believe that you will find
these suites very comfortable and cheerful. Three meals per
day, snacks, bottled water other amenities are all included
in the daily fee for those staying here. The rate is $85/per
day, per room, including meals at the HOH, with no
additional taxes on top of this rate. Payment is made to
Children's Hope in advance for a 7 day stay. If a longer
stay is required, payment can be made in Ethiopia on a daily
basis, or if you know that you will be staying longer that 7
days prior to your trip, payment in full is required before
departure. If checking out of the HOH after 1:00 pm on
the last day of your trip an extra day will be charged.
Our infants and children who will be referred also live at
the House of Hope and families who stay here will be able to
interact with them during many of their daily activities.
For
those families who will not be residing at the House
of Hope during their stay in Ethiopia but will be visiting
and having meals at the House, you are more than
welcome. There will be a nominal fee charged, however. Lunch
$10 / Dinner $10 per adult or $30 a day for two adults. You
will coordinate your visit with our in-country staff and let
them know 24 hours in advance if you will be arriving during
meal time and if you will be eating. Payment will be to the
House of Hope in country, in Ethiopian Birr or US dollars.
There are other small amenities, i.e. bottled water,
medication for travelers, snacks, etc. that you may partake
of as well for a small fee, as posted.
All food items and beverages
are for consumption at the HOH and are not to be taken
to hotels and other guest houses, etc., with you without
the expressed permission of, and payment to, the CHI
in-country staff.
Hotels and Guest House:
If you choose to stay at a hotel or a guest house, please
make your reservations and advise CHI of your plans.
Families typically stay at the Hilton
Hotel, the Sheraton Hotel or one of many guest houses.
Guest houses are preferred as families are able to have
their children with them at the guest houses. Hotels range
from $125 - $350 per day with food costs for a couple at
about $100 per day, in some places. Guest house can start as
low as $25 to $30 per day and up.
