We began our adoption
journey on 19 September, 2005 when we submitted our application with
CHI. Just under a year later we saw one of the most amazing children on
CHI's Waiting Children list. On 21 July we asked to adopt Zhao Sheng
Mei. Just a week later we submitted our LOI. We were blessed on 21
September with Travel Arrangements and were off to China on Halloween.
Matt, my parents, and I met our daughter for the first time on 6
November. We arrived home in Atchison, Kansas, after a brief layover in
California, on 19 November. Chynna Mei Louise Stanley is adjusting well
to her new life. She is extremely smart and very happy. She is attaching
to her big brother, Matthew, who is only 6 1/2 months older and attached
very well to me, Matt, and my parents (in that order) while we were
still in China. Chynna is picking up sign language quite well and is
finally understanding that she has a new way of communicating with
others. It has been happening so quickly that I am amazed by her
progress every day! Thank you, CHI, for helping us find our daughter and
bring her home!
