We started our Vietnam adoption journey with CHI in February 2002. In August 2002, we were sent a picture of two boys who had been HIV + and Hep C + but had tested negative in July. The happy little boy in the pink shirt was our son Aaron. In November 2002, we adopted Aaron from Go Vap orphanage the day before his first birthday. We had always planned to adopt again from Vietnam but Vietnam closed to US adoptions shortly after we adopted Aaron. In January 2006, we attended the St. Louis CHI Tet Party and Nicky Losse announced that CHI was one of the first agencies to get their license to work in Vietnam again. We immediately put in our application, updated our home study and started the journey to Aaron's little sister.
In April 2006, we decided again to pursue adopting a waiting child. In May, we saw a picture of a beautiful baby girl on the CHI waiting child list who had a cleft lip and palate. After talking to our Pediatrician and much prayer, we accepted a referral for Anna in July. Anna's cleft lip was repaired in Vietnam and in December 2006, we adopted Anna at 13 months. Anna was also at Go Vap orphanage, so we were able to show Aaron where he lived and experience his home country.
Our children have brought so much joy to our lives. We enjoy talking about our adoption and our agency CHI. Please email us at sprovinc@insightbb.com to ask about adopting from Vietnam and/or adopting waiting children.
