Thirty-four orphans attended the 2006 Hand in Hand Summer Camp
last summer. Out of a
myriad of activities, the opportunity to
stay with a volunteer family, allowing them to enjoy a week of
family life, was the most exciting and meaningful part of the
week.
 |
The families that participated in this program welcomed and
fully embraced the children into their families. They cooked for
them, took them to the parks and the zoo, and bought them new
clothes.
The orphans, all residents of the Ximing Orphanage of Northern
Mongolian in China spent seven days with these families and
their teachers, participating in growth counseling and visiting
colleges and local companies. These older orphans are nearing
their orphanage graduation, and benefited from approaching
sensitive emotional issues of institutional living, including:
|
Do I trust? Do I forgive? and Am I self-contemptuous?
|
Outside of counseling, the teachers and children enjoyed visits
to the Tian’an Men square, the Great Wall, the Aquarium, the
Science and Technology Museum, one hi-tech company and Qinghua
University, the most famous university in China.
The 2006 Hand in Hand Summer Camp was filled with much
love and hope. Please visit China Projects at

to make a charitable donation for the summer camp in 2007 and
the many children who will be changed through this experience
this year. |
