RUSSIA PROGRAM UPDATES

During Reaccreditation Process
For eight families making their first trip, of the two required
trips for adoption from Russia, this is a very exciting month.
They not only will be meeting their child for the first time,
they will be spending several days in a row getting to know
their new son or daughter. Currently, there are another ten
families traveling in March to finalize their Russian adoption.
Two first trips are planned for April already! Congratulations
to these families!
Still waiting!
Still waiting! At this time, the Ministry states that they are
still gathering the necessary signatures from the different
Ministries. We remain confident that Children's Hope is in good
standing with the Russian Federation and will be reaccredited.
Unfortunately, no definite timelines have been given as to when
this will happen, but we continue to monitor the situation and
try to obtain as much information as possible. The good
news—Children’s Hope continues to have six of our eight regions
that continue to invite families.
Wait Times
The wait times for children have not really changed over the
past year. The statistics for 2006 showed that the average wait
time from dossier to completion was 10.3 months. That was the
average of the 201 adoptions that were completed last year. We
are now holding at 9-11 months for a boy (under 18-months-old)
and 11-13 months for girls (under 18-months-old); 10-12 months,
for siblings under 4-years-old. If families specify the gender
that they wish for sibling groups under 4 years, the wait time
may be longer than 10-12 months. (This wait time is from the
time the dossier is sent to Russia until completion).

Colton Gray of
Tennessee will turn 2-years-old this April. He speaks 14-15
clear words (and several more that only parents Dimple and Larry
understand). We have a feeling a few of those words are, “Happy
St. Patrick’s Day!”
