ETHIOPIA PROGRAM UPDATES

Five families had a happy homecoming in the past week. Since one family adopted two siblings, six total children are now in their new homes. Another family who arrived in Ethiopia this past weekend will be home very soon. We expect others to be traveling towards the end of June.

Then seven families, who received their referrals in mid-May, were happy to hear about their court dates now scheduled for late June. This group will probably travel later in the summer to finalize their adoptions. Congratulations to all of the families. It's been an exciting start to the month.

2008:

31 children adopted this year

25 families

Longest wait for a referral: Just short of 7 months.

"Ashton Wondemu has been a daddy's boy since about 3:15 last Thursday afternoon, which just happens to be about the same time daddy shared his macaroon with his son," shares Aston's mom Jo McGregor. "You know Mike loves someone when he's willing to share his macaroon...

Since then they've been inseparable Cheerio buddies. Ash gets this adorable grin on his face when he's playing with his dad, and dad's grin is pretty cute, too. Words aren't necessary at all; they just give each other these looks and then exchange huge smiles - it's like they're speaking in their own secret language. Sunday is going to be a very special day in our household, although it's been just over a week there's no doubt in my mind that Mike and Ash are going to make quite the father/ son team... so much love."

Congratulations, welcome home, and happy Father's Day, Mike, from your son, your wife, and the entire staff of Children's Hope International!
