ETHIOPIA PROGRAM UPDATES

Melkam Addis Amet (Happy New
Year)!
At the close of 2007, Children?s
Hope was blessed to place 10 children into 8 families in the
U.S., including one special needs child. We are expecting even
greater things in 2008! One family has traveled home with her
little girl this month and we are expecting many, many more to
follow.
Recap of 2007
In April 2007, we were blessed to be
approved by the Ethiopian government to begin adoption and
humanitarian aid work in Ethiopia. The courts were closed in
August and September; however, in the six active months of
finalizing adoptions in Ethiopia, we placed a total of 10
children into forever homes.
The 10 children included four boys
and six girls, and two sets of siblings. The average wait time
for a referral was 3 ? months; the longest wait, 5 ? months.
At the end of 2007 there were:
12 families with referrals,
waiting for a travel date
3 referral families with travel
dates
17 families with a dossier in
Ethiopia waiting for a referral

Children at House of Hope, in Addis
Ababa, Ethiopia, celebrate their Christmas January 7. Melkam
Genna to the beautiful children and our great staff! Our House
of Hope staff in Ethiopia celebrated the holiday by attending
church services, preparing special dishes and wearing
traditional Ethiopian clothing. (left to right) Sr. Alem (with
