The Kramer Family
Jamie,
Tandalaya and Kara Kramer
On July 17,2006, in Yopal Colombia, Kara Tatiana came into our lives. That was the best
moment ever!! We were blessed with a little piece of heaven. Kara was hand
picked. It’s unbelievable how perfect she is for us.
It’s now November 17,2006. Four months have gone by fast. So far, the time with our daughter seems
surreal. The love and bonds that have been created has made these 4 months feel
like “always”.
Our
adoption journey began in January 2005. Kara was born April 2005. The adoption
process is long. There is nothing short about it. Before we got Kara, we
wished for a rush in the process. Now that we have Kara, with four months gone
by, our need for the process to be rushed has faded away. We realize that the
long process is a tool to be used. Ever since she came into our lives, love has
grown. The love we have for Kara and each other has grown with each new day.
It feels like she has, somehow, “always” been a part of us.
Eight years of
desire for a child is now a reality. Kara has brought a new happiness to our
entire family. Empty places have been filled.
Not everyday is
wonderful and lovely. We are first-time parents to a very confident little
girl. There is so much to learn. Communication (not a language difference) is
our key issue. It’s amazing a couple of almost 14 years can forget to talk when
a fabulous little third party comes in. Taking care of Kara, playing, learning
behaviors and teaching new ones has become our highest priority. We forget to
talk about our days, our feelings, routines, eating habits, new words/ actions,
etc. etc.. Communication is a great stress reliever, confidence builder and
strength rejuvenator. Being new parents is, kind of, like teaching an old dog
new tricks. HA! HA!
Choosing to
adopt has been an amazing journey. Children's Hope helped and encouraged us every step of the
way. Our family gives a huge hug and many thanks to Children's Hope for their faith,
knowledge and strength.
Best wishes to every family,
Jamie,
Tandalaya and Kara Kramer
