Happy New Year! Children’s Hope International completed 231 China adoptions in 2007 including two sets of twins. Of the 231 China adoptions, 71 were waiting children. We would have loved to have placed more children during 2007, but we rejoice for those children we did place and their families!

On the last day of 2007, we received China referrals for six very excited families. These referrals were for our families whose paperwork was officially entered into the CCAA’s database on December 19, 2005. These referrals were for six beautiful little girls from the Guizhou province. Their ages are 14 months, two at 16 months, 2 ½ years, 3 ½ years and 4 years 2 months. Five of these girls are older than requested by their parents in their petition letter. These families waited 25 long months from log in date to referral and will now soon travel to complete their Chinese adoptions in about 8 weeks. This group of referrals began with the 12/15/05 through 12/19/05 log in dates. What a way to end 2007! Congratulations to these families and all our China families who have moved up in line!

(Children’s Hope International’s next log in date is 12/20/05.)

CHINA TRAVEL – Six families adopting children with special needs will be traveling to complete their Chinese adoptions January 3 – 17, 2008. One family will return on January 20. On December 31, we received travel approvals for the early December referral group; these families will be traveling to China January 17 – 31, 2008, prior to the Chinese New Year.

WAIT TIME FROM LID TO REFERRAL - The current waiting time from log in date until referral is 25 months. We fully expect the wait time from log in date to referral to grow over 2 years in 2008 and continue to climb over time to possibly 4 years.

Five Children’s Hope Families Receive the Gift of Referrals

On December 6, Children's Hope received referrals for five happy families adopting from China. Each family saw their first pictures and reviewed medical information for a daughter. The girls range in age from 9-10 months, and are from the Jiangxi province.

These referral families all had their adoption paperwork added to the CCAA's database on December 13, 2005. After waiting 24 long months from log-in-date to referral, we expect these families to travel in about 8 weeks. Congratulations! The CCAA’s next group of referrals will begin with the December 15, 2005 log-in-date. The next log-in-dates for Children’s Hope families are December 19 and 20.  We fully expect the wait time from log-in-date to referral to grow to over two years in 2008 and continue to climb to possibly four years over time.

WAITING CHILDREN NEWS - We have placed 27 waiting children and 2 waiting children files are being reviewed. Seven additional waiting children are still available. Congratulations to these families and their children!

CCAA ANNOUNCES FEE INCREASE – On November 23, the CCAA announced a fee increase of $40 effective immediately. The new CCAA fee is now $860 due at the time you submit your dossier. The China information guides will be updated with this information.

Travel: The November referral group and the three waiting children families will travel to China to finalize their adoptions in mid-December and will return December 28 or 29. The October referral group and eight waiting children families, currently in country, are set to return December 13.

It’s a Match for 36 Children’s Hope China Families

The Children’s Hope China Team is very excited to announce that 26 waiting children have been placed with our China families this month and several children are currently being reviewed. Waiting children are those children available for adoption who are older or have medical needs. Congratulations to these families!

The Children's Hope China Team also received healthy infant referrals on November 5 for ten of our China families. The 10 beautiful little girls are from the Guangxi, Guangdong, Jiangxi and Liaoning provinces. Nine of the girls range in age from 6½ to 13 months; and one toddler girl, just over 3 ½ years old, was referred to a St. Louis family. When her parents were presented her referral, they said, “We are thrilled; she is so beautiful!”

These ten families waited 23 months from the day China entered their paperwork in December 2005. Our Chinese expedited family waited 14 months. These families will travel to China to finalize their Chinese adoptions in approximately 8 weeks. Congratulations!

The group of referrals were for Children’s Hope families with log-in-dates 12/1/05 through 12/8/05. Congratulations to these families and all our China families who have moved up in line! The next group of referrals will begin with the 12/9/05 log-in-date. Children’s Hope next log-in-date is 12/13/05.

WAIT TIME FROM LID TO REFERRAL - The current waiting time from log-in-date until referral is 23 months. We fully expect the wait from log-in-date to referral to grow to 2+ years in 2008, but we do not know how long it will grow.

Travel: Six waiting children families traveled to China this past month to complete their China adoptions and one family is set to return home on November 22. Welcome home! Children’s Hope October referral group and eight additional waiting children families will travel to China on November 29 and will return in mid-December.

Twelve Children’s Hope China Families Usher in October with Referrals!

Children's Hope China team received twelve referrals on the first of October for our 11/28/05 log-in-date families and our 8/8/06 and 8/29/06 Chinese expedited families! The referrals are for twelve beautiful little girls from the Chongqing, Jiangxi and Shanghai provinces. These girls range in age from 6.5 to 9 months, and one 2.5-year-old. Our families waited 22 months from the completion of their adoption paperwork to referral; the Chinese expedited families, 14 months. We expect these families to travel in about 7 weeks to complete their China adoptions.

This group of referrals was given to families whose paperwork was logged into the China Center of Adoption Affairs November 26-30, 2005. The CCAA is FINALLY finished with November 2005 dossiers and is ready to refer children for December 2005 dossier families! Children’s Hope next log-in-date for families is 12/5/05. Congratulations to these families and all our China families who have moved up in line!

On October 2, Children’s Hope also received ten official referrals for families adopting waiting children. The next group of thirty-five China waiting children, those children who are older or have special medical needs, will be posted on CHI Family Net for review Monday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m. CST. Application approved families and those that have previously completed an adoption through Children’s Hope may access CHI Family Net; please note, this site is not open to the general public.

WAIT TIME FROM LID TO REFERRAL: The current wait time from log-in-date until referral is 22 months. We fully expect the wait time from log-in-date to referral to be at 24 months by the end of 2007 and grow in 2008, but we do not know how long it will grow.

Traveling! Children’s Hope families who received referrals in July just recently returned home with their children and those who were matched in August left for China for the Hunan, Anhui, and Guangdong provinces this week. This month, our families are staying at The Garden while in Guangzhou finalizing their adoptions with the US Consulate (please find more information below). We are very fortunate that these families will be home before the celebrations of the Harvest Moon Festival holidays and the Guangzhou Trade Fair!

The China team reunited with 229 China children at the Children’s Hope Reunion Picnic on Saturday. We had a wonderful day celebrating with our families! Many travel groups from years past planned to come together for a full weekend; some groups even matched with tie-dye t-shirts. Packing peanuts in blow-up swim pools? This was a family favorite, along with a performance by singing Babaloo and the face painting and balloon animal art of Funnie Farm.

This past month saw a record number of completed dossiers sent to China, 115. Congratulations to all the families as they completed their dossiers for submission under the current China requirements! Almost all of our families with the desire and capability to submit before the deadline met this goal. This is an amazing accomplishment! Those that were unable to do so are currently selecting from optional Children’s Hope country programs.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Referrals: Children's Hope received one Chinese expedited referral last week, for a family requesting either a boy or girl. This family is surprised to learn they will soon parent a 14-month-old son from the Shangdong Province. We expect the family to travel in about 8 weeks to complete their China adoption process. Congratulations! The CCAA did refer for two log in dates 10/25/05 and 10/26/05 on April 9. While Children’s Hope did not have families for either log in date, our 10/27/05 log in date families are first in line for next referrals.

Waiting Children: The China team is thrilled that 18 waiting children have been placed from the current waiting children list. Two waiting children have not been requested for review. Updates have been requested from the CCAA and will be posted when received in hopes that a family will come forward when more information is available. Of the two children remaining on this list, the first has cleft lip/palate. Children's Hope is in process to provide surgery for him regardless of his placement with a Children's Hope family. The second child has the same diagnosis as Adoption Services Director Ann Tollefson’s youngest son, Andrew. Any family interested may call and speak with her directly about her experiences and joys in parenting this condition. We hope the best for all of these precious children and their future forever families!

Good Friday, April 6: Children’s Hope offices will be closed on Good Friday. China dossiers will be sent to China on Thursday, April 5.

China Travel: Three families will be traveling at the end of this month to finalize their Chinese adoptions. This past Monday we received travel approvals for the 2/1/07 referral group. Members of this group will be traveling to China at the end of March and beginning of April. Pack your bags carefully! The Guangzhou Spring Trade Fair 2007 (also known as the Canton Fair) will be from April 14 through April 30; China’s Labor Day Holiday, May 1 through May 7.

Completed adoptions: Thirty-three children were adopted through Children’s Hope this past February. Congratulations to these united families! The current wait time for referrals is 16 to 17 months.

March 5, 2007

Referrals: Children's Hope is proud to announce that we received eighteen China referrals today for families with a 10/18/05 and 10/24/05 log in date. The referrals are all little girls ranging in age from 7 to 12 months old. The children are from the Hubei and Jiangxi provinces. We expect the families to travel in about 8 weeks to complete their adoption process.

For these families, the wait from log in date to referral was 16 to 17 months. Congratulations to these happy families and everyone who moves up in line for referrals! Congratulations also to the the three waiting children families who received their travel approvals today, too!

China's Waiting Children: The new group of China waiting children is now available to approved families. Families may submit their forms for first review in the next 72 hours, ending March 8 at 10:00 a.m. CST. As they have recently changed, please review the new Waiting/Special Needs Program Procedures on CHIFamily.net.

On Thursday, February 22, the China team posted four special children on CHIFamily.net. These four children are not officially a part of the CCAA Waiting Children's Program, but are in a blind foster care center near Beijing, as they are legally blind. Tina Qualls visited the foster care center and met both children and staff while she was in China last summer. The staff asked if Children’s Hope could find homes for these children.

China Travel: The 1/3/07 referral group and six waiting children families are currently in China and will return in the second week of March. The current wait time from log in date until referral is 16 months.
